Kendrick Lamar is readying to close out a huge 2022 with hopes of securing an Oscars nomination for his work on the short film “We Cry Together.”
Before the “Mr. Morale” emcee wrapped up the U.S. leg of his Big Steppers tour, with two sold-out shows in Los Angeles, Lamar released his Taylour Paige-featured six-minute short film, which according to the LA native, is meant to be a reflection of society overall and not just his personal experiences. The film meets the criteria for the Best Live Action Short category at the upcoming Academy Awards and k.dot has his eyes on earning a nomination.

Kendrick and his manager Dave Free recently spoke with Variety about the project, in which Lamar expressed, “I wanted to bring that drama because, at the end of the day, whether we like it or not — the good, the bad and the ugly, the pros and cons — that’s what makes everything evolve.”
The short was directed by Kendrick, Dave Free, and Jack Schreir and Oscars voting beings early December!
