Currently “feeling the most productive in his career,” record producer, Hit-Boy, stopped by Power 106 to sit down with Justin Credible and DJ Sourmilk for a quick interview.

The California native spilled the emotions he has been experiencing following the passing of the great Nipsey Hussle. Hit-Boy says it’s been a constant roller coaster of feeling pain, frustration, and sadness, but appreciates the city’s support during this difficult time. Hit-Boy listed the records he produced for Nipsey that people forget about years before “Racks In The Middle” came into the light, which includes: “Bullets Ain’t Got No Names,” “Thuggin’,” “1 Hunnit A Show,” and more.

After a couple of years without working Nipsey Hussle, the two united for a studio session for Hit-Boy’s first compilation album soon to come. Hit-Boy says Nip loved “Racks In The Middle” so much that he asked to take for his own single. The two began working on the track to which Hit-Boy says was an emotional process where the both cried before the song released.

“I shed a tear for Racks In the Middle when Nip was still here.”

Since the hit record with Nipsey Hussle and Roddy Ricch, Hit-Boy has been on a roll producing multiple tracks on Juice Wrld’s Death Race for Love and Big Sean’s new project coming out later this year. In addition he also talks producing SOB x RBE’s  album Family Not A Group. Hit-Boy stays humble with all of the success he has been having, keeping his head straight by always reminding himself “it’s about music” and nothing more.
