French producer Gesaffelstein and The Weekend are becoming quite the dynamic duo. “Lost in the Fire” is not their first collaboration, but their third. The two came together for two tracks on The Weeknd’s 2018 album My Dear Melancholy, and they are back with this single for Gesaffelstein’s upcoming 2019 album, Hyperion.
“Lost in the Fire” gives listeners a catchy beat but with a creepy twist, especially when paired with the music video. The visual’s background is black throughout the whole project featuring only one or two focal objects a time – a rose, women with brightly lit eyes, white statues just to name a few. However, as the video progresses, the objects start to drip with a thick, black liquid and a man covered in all black consistently hovers over The Weeknd.
In terms of lyrics, one part in particular caught the attention of many to think that The Weeknd is dissing Drake. The Weeknd says, “I just want a baby with the right one. Cause I could never be the one to hide one” leading fans to presume the singer is referring to Drake’s “hiding a child.” The meaning of the project as a whole is quite mysterious, but The Weeknd’s songs always tend to leave a haunting impression on fans.

The Canadian singer is said to be working on his next album, Chapter VI, which we can hopefully expect soon. Not to mention, he is re-selling his Asia tour merchandise that was given first priority to those in the Asia part of the tour – Bali, Taipei, Tokyo, Manila, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore and Seoul. As for Gesaffelstein’s Hyperion, it is unsure when it will drop but will be performing at Coachella 2019.
