Inglewood’s own D Smoke gained popularity a few years back with the release of the Netflix show “Rhythm + Flow,” and while he’s built a name for himself in his hometown, the rapper continues to lead and inspire his community.
Stopping by the Power 106 studios to chop it up with Power Mornings host Letty, D Smoke shares how he’s giving back to his community with the restructuring of Broadway Boxing Gym and the space’s future ahead. As Smoke reminisces on a time he wanted to be a pro boxer, the Cali native shares how he began to build relationships with the likes of G Perico and many more just through the sport of boxing and the Broadway Boxing Gym in which he trained.
D Smoke continues to speak about his impact and reach within the community as he shares his reaction to the controversial news surrounding the L.A. City Council and former President Nury Martinez, who was secretly recorded saying racial slurs. Smoke speaks on how Martinez’ actions are not a reflection of the people she served and further divide the communities in Los Angeles.
Smoke goes on to share why he wanted to create his latest single “El Rey” and much more.
