Jayson Cash’s debut album ‘Read The Room’ has been an impressive work of labor that the Cali native could not be more proud of, as he not only stands for the city that made him, but he’s also backed by support from some of LA’s most notable rappers who are consistently putting in work.
Sitting down for a conversation with our Midday host Bryhana, Cash details all sides to his project, which taps LA greats like Dom Kennedy, Blxst, and Kalan.FrFr, to name a few, but the Carson-bred rapper also discusses the challenge of carrying the city on his back. Jayson admits that he believes it’s difficult being from LA and gaining recognition in the game because the culture of the city is tough to win over. Cash notably points out that Los Angeles fans and culture have to continue to show major love for those who are doing the groundwork to put the west on the map.
Being homegrown, Cash has been inspired by many Cali legends like Snoop Dogg and Suga Free and he praises the rap icons for not only the advice they have given him, but he’s also shown major love to Suga Free specifically for inspiring his style of rap and creativity.
Jayson Cash goes on to speak about being featured in the LA Times, being comfortable in his own skin, connecting with Mustard on “Top Down,” and much more.
