Detroit and Los Angeles are standing strong with the return of Big Sean’s latest single “Deep Reverence” which sees the late “street legend” Nipsey Hussle grace new music.
Sean not only surprised fans last night with the announcement of his fifth studio album ‘Detroit 2’, which will drop September 4th, but the Don took it up a notch with the release of his leading single from the project “Deep Reverence”. The Hussle-assisted track reminds us all of the great talent that was taken from us all too soon but it also reminds us that the legacy of Hussle will continue to be deeply felt in collabs like this, especially for Sean. In the song, the Detroit emcee revealed some personal details about a relationship in which he may experienced a miscarriage with his love interest, many are speculating this happened with Sean’s long time girlfriend Jhene Aiko, but he doesn’t mention specifics. Sean also referenced the work that he’s put in on his mental health, and addressed his long-standing feud with Kendrick Lamar.

NEW #BigSean album #Detroit2 dropping off Sept 4th! 🔥💯🌹 Y’all ready for the new music?!
While Sean and K.Dot’s beef consisted more of subliminals on songs, neither of the rappers spoke about each other directly after the infamous “Control” collaboration, the Don is ready to bury the hatchet once and for all. On the new single, Sean spits: “After what happened to Nipsey / I reached out to Kendrick, it wasn’t even no real issues there to begin with / Lack of communication and wrong information from people fueled by their ego / it’s like mixin’ flames with diesel / energy crazy, I realized that it’s a two-way street / what’s comin’ is goin’, if it don’t give you more, it drains you”.
Sean’s public address will hopefully put all issues to the side once and for all as the rapper makes his way back onto the music forefront. Both Kanye West and Hit-Boy are credited as executive producers on ‘Detroit 2’ and from he looks and sound of “Deep Reverence”, we know Sean has set another bar in his career.
