Despite maintaining his innocence, the state of Florida is looking to punish him to the harshest degree if he’s convicted.

TMZ reported today that the Florida native is now facing the death penalty in his double-murder case. The “Murder On My Mind” tapper was has charged back in February for the fatal shootings of his two friends, YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser. He entered a not guilty plea a few weeks ago, along with his associate YNW Bortlen, who has also been charged as an accomplice for the crimes. The newest development is that now, the State of Florida is seeking capital punishment. They also are claiming Melly is a gang member.

Legal documents obtained by TMZ reportedly note that the state is sure that they can easily prove the rapper is in fact responsible for carrying out the killings of the two men for his own financial gain. They are calling the murder “premeditated” and say it was committed in an especially “heinous, atrocious, or cruel” manner. You can catch up on all the previous proceedings in this case, HERE
