Dave East will now join the ranks Snoop, Ludacris, Ice Cube etc, and become a rapper *slash* actor.
Ok ok so technically this isn’t his isn’t his acting debut BUT Hulu has just revealed the cast for new original film “Wu-Tang: An American Saga”. Dave East actually appeared on BET’s Being Mary Jane in 2017, but he said he wanted to dive more into some on screen work. Now it looks like he’s scored a role that could put his acting career on the map.
Deadline originally reported that Wu-Tang: An American Saga will star Dave East, Julian Elijah Martinez, and Vinnie Pastore. Dave East will play Shotgun who’s character is reportedly based on Method Man. They also described his character as a guy that has a knack for rhymes and stays above the street wars. He is the assistant manager at the concession stand next to the Statue of Liberty. The premise of the series is
“Wu-Tang: An American Saga” is set in 1990s New York City during the height of the crack cocaine epidemic and follows “the Clan’s formation, a vision of Bobby Diggs aka The RZA, who strives to unite a dozen young, black men that are torn between music and crime but eventually rise to become the unlikeliest of American success stories.
The series will consist of 10 episodes and is in pre production as of this month. OK so the real question is…do y’all think Dave favors Method Man???
