Captain Marvel is a welcomed addition to the Marvel storyline and a proper goodbye to Marvel Comics creator, Stan Lee. The film follows U.S. Air Force fighter pilot Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes during intergalactic turmoil. Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s, a time period that was previously untapped in the series. Viewers have already followed the likes of Captain America travel from Civil War times, to the 2018 Avengers battle against the supervillain, Thanos.
Although new to the Marvel series, Brie Larson’s chemistry with Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) has proven to become a dynamic duo, comparative to the likes of Ant-Man and the Wasp. The early-movie bar scene helped showcase the relationship both actors had, as it had them perform a back-and-forth investigation of each other’s respective characters.
Despite Danver’s lack of memory after the incident that caused her to gain her powers, she remains positive and eager to master her newfound abilities. This can be seen in the training sessions Danver had with Yon Rogg (Jude Law), a man who claims to have saved Danver following her initial plane crash incident. Captain Marvel’s initial fight against the Skrulls, intergalactic shapeshifters, takes a major left as she finds out the reasons as to why she was saved in the first place. Viewers also get answers on why their favorite characters behave the way they do. An explanation as to why Nick Fury looks and acts the way he does also take place. From his badass persona to the eye-patch, it’s a tell-all story for the legendary actor.
In the end, Captain Marvel is worth checking out. Considering it answers multiple questions from the Marvel Universe, the film is a must-see for the entire family and fans of the Marvel storyline.
Rest In Peace, Stan Lee.
