Atlanta’s own Lil Gnar stops by Power 106 for an exclusive interview with DJ Felli Fel. During the 10-minute interview, Gnar explains how he started his own skateboarding brand, Gnarcotic, and used that as leverage to fuel his rap career. He also compares Atlanta rap to Los Angeles rap. He states:
“I feel like Atlanta is more family-based or hood-based. It’s damn near in the blood. It’s a real culture, like you feel it. But in that sense, you only get kind of one — there’s not that many type of artists coming out of Atlanta.”
He proceeds to shout out Lil Baby, Young Thug, Gunna, Future, Migos, but comments how they’re all in the same lane.
“LA is a little more different. It’s more eclectic. It’s more scattered. Peep is from New York, but he popped out of LA. You got Shoreline Mafia on some complete other shit. You got Lil Tracy. You got YG, but he’s a huge artist. You got mad different type of stuff.”
He also talks about being a fan of Pharrell and shouts out XXXTentacion in a freestyle. Watch above!
