Jay-Z will be receiving a prestigious honor from the LGBT community’s GLAAD Media Awards for his song ‘Smile’. 

In this song, Jay-Z reveals growing up with his mother and how his mother dealt with her sexuality. At the end of the song, Jay-Z’s mother recites a short peom describing her journey growing up and living as a lesbian woman. 

The 29th GLAAD Media Awards will take place in Los Angeles on April 12.
